At least seven motorcyclists were killed in road accidents in Gopalganj, Chattogram and Dhaka on Monday.
According to lpcal sources, 3 youth bikers died after an unidentified speedy truck hit their vehicle from opposite direction in Sonasur area on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Jami Sheikh, 17, son of Shokor Sheikh, Hasan Sarder, 18, son of Sukkur Sarder and Tajim Sheikh, 16, son of Davlu Sheikh, all hailed from Chutfah village in Gopalganj Sadar upazila.
"The three youths were returning to their village home from the district town riding on a motorbike ...the bike caught fire and plunged into road side following a speedy truck coming from opposite site hit it around 12.30am on Sunday", said SM Ariful Huq, senior station master of Gopalganj fire station.
Jami Sheikh died on the spot and critically injured two others were admitted to 250-bed Gopalganj general hospital.
Later, they were shifted to National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) where they succumbed to their injuries in the morning.
Two motorcyclists were killed when a bus rammed their motorbike on Gahira-Heyako road at Bhujpur in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram district.
The deceased were identified as Shahab Uddin, 20, son of Abdul Karim and Doulat Khan, 24, son of Manu Mia of Churamoni area.
The Ramgarh-bound bus hit the motorbike carrying the duo around 10 am, leaving them injured, said Najer Hossain, in-charge of Datmara Police camp.
Later, they were taken to Fatikchhari Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared Doulat Khan dead.
Shahab died on way to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, said Najer.
Two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured as a speeding truck knocked them down in Dholaikhal area of Dhaka's Gendaria early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Abul Khair,30, a furniture trader who was riding the bike, and Sabbir Hossain,26, an employee of another furniture shop. They hailed from Faridpur and Gopalganj districts respectively.
Nayem,17, who suffered minor injuries, was treated at a nearby hospital.
The truck hit the motorbike when the two were returning home from their shops around 3:30 am, said Mizanur Rahman, sub-inspector (SI) of Gendaria Police Station.
Abul Khair and Sabbir Hossain died on the spot and their bodies were sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (Mitford) morgue for autopsy, he added.
Efforts are on to locate the truck and arrest its driver, said the SI.
