Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested a top commander of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) in a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Wednesday.
Hafez Jubayer, 32, was arrested in camp No 19 at around 4am along with four guns, 32 rounds of ammunition, bullet casings and two walkie-talkie sets.
Md Amir Zafar, additional deputy inspector general (ADIG) of APBn-8, confirmed the news.
Jubayer was detained from Rohingya camp no 19, Block-A/14 in the morning. Four local shutter guns, 32 bullets, two walkie-talkies and a mobile charger were recovered from his possession, he said. On secret information, APBn team conducted a raid at the camp and detained Jubayer. As per his information, the team members also seized the firearms from a trunk, he further said.
