Agitated workers locked into a clash with police at Savar’s Ashulia on Tuesday, while they were protesting against the closure of a factory, leaving three cops and 10 workers injured.
The incident took place around 9:30 am, as the workers of the Fashion Forum Limited staged demonstration in Jamgara Ekala area of Ashulia.
According to the workers, more than three thousand workers work in the factory. With an allegation of vandalism and continuous movement, the authorities declared the factory closure under Section 13/1. When the workers tried to block the Baipal-Abdullapur road to protest against the closure of the factory, the industrial policemen charged batons and hurled tear gas at the workers, leaving 10 workers injured.
Ashulia Industrial Police-1 Additional Superintendent of Police Md Mosi ud-Daula Reza said, there had been a trouble in the Fashion Forum Ltd factory for long days. Today, at 9:30 am, the workers of that factory started protesting on the road along with the workers of nearby factories. The workers threw bricks at the policemen when they tried to convince the them to go aside the road. Three policemen were injured.”
