Development of grassroots people necessary for Smart Bangladesh

The dissemination of information about the construction of the Smart Bangladesh that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina envisions should be prioritised above all else, stressed experts.

Field-level administrative and other officials concerned, public representatives, development activists and other stakeholders should come forward and work together as the grassroots people can play a vital role in this end.

Discussants came up with the observation while addressing a view-sharing meeting titled “Way Forward to Build Smart Bangladesh” in the district on Thursday.

District Information Office (DIO) organised the meeting at Puthia Upazila Parishad auditorium largely attended by officials of all line departments, public representatives and media personnel.

Prof Dr Monsur Rahman, MP, and Upazila Chairman GM Hira Bachhu addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively, while DIO Director Farhad Hossain was in the chair.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nurul Hai Muhammad Anas gave an illustration of aspects of building Smart Bangladesh during his concept paper presentation.

Prof Monsur Rahman said the present government under the prudent and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for building ‘Smart Bangladesh’ for transforming the country into a developed one by 2041.

Digital Bangladesh has already been built and the time has come to build Smart Bangladesh with the dynamic and competent leadership of the Premier.

He told the meeting that a target has been set to build Smart Bangladesh on the basis of four pillars- Smart Citizen, Smart Government, Smart Society and Smart Economy- by 2041.

He called for reaching the messages to the doorsteps of the grassroots people putting emphasis on the implementation of cashless, transparent and accountable methods in the field of transactions.

Thereby, a smart economy will be established through the formulation of a corruption-free and accountable system.

Lawmaker Prof Rahman also said Smart Bangladesh could be possible when cherished progress in the field of industries, factories, trade, business, health, education and agriculture will attain.

“We have no more time to look backwards but we have to look forward as the present Bangladesh has been marching forward vibrantly,” he added.
