3 women killed in Habiganj road crash

Three women were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in front of Mohana Community Centre in Mouchak area under Bahubal upazila of Habiganj district early hours of Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Manjila Begum, 45, Tanzila Begum, 35, and Shahinur Begum, 45, residents of Gobindpur village under Hossainpur upazila in Kishoreganj district.

The accident occurred in the area when a Dhaka-bound stone-laden truck collided head-on with a pick-up, leaving its three passengers dead on the spot and 10 others injured, said Md Rakibul Islam, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bahubal Model Police Station.

They were going to the shrine of Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA) in Sylhet from Gobindpur village of Hossainpur upazila in Kishoreganj around 1.30am.

The injured were admitted to Bahubal Upazila Health Complex and Habiganj 250-Bed District Modern Hospital, he said.
