6 burnt in oil tanker blast in Narayanganj

Six people suffered burn injuries in an explosion at an oil tanker on the Shitalakhya River at Rupganj in Narayanganj around 1:30am on Saturday.

The burn injured are Md Humayun, 54, Md Imtiaz, 42, Md Rubel, 38, Md Sohel, 38, Md Emon, 35, Md Rakib, 24.

They were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).

A doctor of the SHNIBPS said six people were admitted here with burn injuries. They are undergoing treatment at the emergency department. Bachchu Miah, In-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, confirmed the news.

Osman Gani, Station Officer of Demra Fire Service, said Sangaile 8 carrying oil refining napkins anchored on dockyard of Kingfisher Shipyard at Isapura area in the Shitalakshya River. An explosive occurred from the gas accumulated in the river, causing the fire.
