Mother commits suicide after killing daughter in Cumilla

A mother allegedly committed suicide after killing her daughter in Cumilla’s Burichang upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased were Jannat, 24, wife of Singapore expatriate Abu Kalam, a resident of Gopinathpur village under Pirjatrapur union in the upazila, and her daughter Hajera, 4.

Burichang Police Station inspector Kabir Hossain said local people informed police station after seeing the bodies of the mother and daughter. After reaching the spot, it was found that the girl’s body was lying on bed and the mother was hanging from the ceiling of the house.

The police officer also said Jannat may have committed suicide after killing her daughter due to a family dispute.
