Rohingya youth shot dead at Ukhiya camp

A Rohingya youth was shot dead and another injured during an exchange of fire between two groups at Ukhiya camp in Cox’s Bazar district.

The incident took place around 7:30am on Monday at Balukhali Rohingya Camp-8.

The deceased was identified as Iman Hossain, 18, son of Siraj Hossain, a resident of Camp no-10, Block F/14. Mohammad Nur was also injured in the incident.

A gunfight took place between two groups--Arsa and RSO-- in the morning at the camp. Iman Hossain and Nur were critically injured by bullets, according to the camp sources.

They were rushed to IMO Hospital under camp-9 where Iman succumbed to his injuries.

Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed the incident.
