Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary celebrated across the country

The 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day-2023 were observed across the country on Friday in a befitting manner amidst much celebration and festivity.

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), divisional and district administrations, police administration, corporate bodies, educational institutions, Awami League (AL), and its associate organisations, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela, socio-cultural and children organisations celebrated the day through elaborate programmes.

The day's programmes began with the hoisting of the national flag atop all public and private buildings at dawn.

Other programmes include placing wreaths at the portrait and mural of Bangabandhu, cutting a birthday cake, screening documentary films and illuminating important government, non-government and autonomous buildings and installations.

RCC authorities placed a wreath at the mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Crossing paying rich tribute to him.

Various government and non-government organisations, social and cultural bodies, valiant Freedom Fighters and politicians placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on Shilpakala Academy premises.

Divisional Commissioner GSM Zafarullah, Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Anisur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil and Superintendent of Police Masud Hossain, among other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.

The District Information Office screened video footage and clippings on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at different road crossings in the city.

Improved diets were served to the inmates of all hospitals, upazila health complexes, jails, vagabond centres, shishu paribar and orphanages.

Various educational institutions including Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Medical University, Rajshahi Medical College, Rajshahi Krisi Unnayan Bank, Bangladesh Silk Development Board and Rajshahi College also celebrated the birth centenary through separate programmes.

In Panchagarh, In observance of the day, parliament member (MP) from Panchagarh-1 constituency Md Mojaharul Haque Prodhan, DC of Panchagarh Md Johurul Islam, Police Super SM Sirajul Huda, general secretary of district Awami League Anower Sadat Samrat, Panchagarh Municipality Mayor Zakia Katun placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Circuit House area this morning.

Upazila Awami League, educational institutions and other organisations, and government and non-government offices placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu one after one.

Later, a rally was brought out from the Circuit House area which paraded the thoroughfare of the town. The day was observed by cutting a cake at the DC conference hall room.

In Rangpur, the district and divisional level civil and police administrations, Awami League, Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) and many other organisations chalked out colourful programs to celebrate Bangabandhu's birth anniversary.

The DC Moor, ‘Muktijuddher Smritistambha ‘Arjan’ at Modern Moor, Shapla Square areas and important places were illuminated and decorated with colourful banners and festoons.

The celebrations began with the placing of wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Square near the DC Moor at 9 am.

The national flag was hoisted atop all government, semi-government and private buildings.

Divisional Commissioner Md. Sabirul Islam first placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu paying rich tribute to the Father of the Nation.

Later, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nure Alam Mina, Additional Deputy Inspector General (Crime Management) of Rangpur Range Police Md Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Dr Chitralekha Nazneen, RpCC Chief Executive Officer Md Ruhul Amin Miah, Superintendent of Police Md Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and high officials placed wreaths there.
