Women and girls victims of violence, child marriage and forced marriage should get spaces for their involvement in income generating activities (IGAs) to become self-reliant alongside for their social empowerment.
The opinion came at an orientation on ‘Involvement of women and girls victims of violence, child marriage and forced marriage in income generating activities’ held at Shilpokola Academy in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur on Sunday afternoon.
Dinajpur-based NGO ‘Pollishree’ organised the event under its Creating Spaces Project being funded by Oxfam Canada, a global organisation working to end child marriage, injustice of poverty and inequality with a focus on women’s rights.
Programme Manager of Creating Spaces Project of ‘Pollishree’ Selim Reza presided over the event participated by 20 adolescents, victims of violence, child marriage and forced marriage, from four unions of the upazila.
Taraganj Upazila Assistant Youth Development Officer Md Aminul Islam attended the orientation as the chief guest.
Taraganj Upazila Youth Development Office Assistant SM Rana, Project Coordinator of Pollishree Raunak Ara Haque, its Project Officer Lazina Akter also addressed the event.
