Over 47,000 tonnes Boro procured in Jashore

The government so far procured around 47,482 tonnes of Boro paddy and rice during the current season in Jashore, Directorate General of Food sources said.

The government started paddy procurement on April 28 and rice procurement on May 7 last from all eight upazilas of the district.

Nityananda Kundu, the district food controller, said the government has set a target of procuring 26,754 tonnes of rice and 20,728 tonnes of Boro paddy until August 31 in the district during the current season.

Of those, a total of 3,138 tonnes of Boro paddy and 6,265 tonnes of rice would be procured from Sadar upazila while 3,325 tonnes of paddy and 6,171 tonnes of rice from Sharsha, 1,852 tonnes of paddy and 7,212 tonnes of rice from Abhaynagar, 3,892 tonnes of paddy and 2,525 tonnes of rice from Monirampur, 1,975 tonnes of paddy and 326 tonnes of rice from Bagherpara.
