The harvesting and threshing of Boro paddy are near completion in the five upazilas of Sherpur district this season.

Farmers of the district are happy after getting a high yield of Boro paddy this year. Deputy Director of the district Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Dr Shukalpo Das said Boro paddy was cultivated on 91,781 hectares of land with a production target of 6,62,200 tonnes of rice in all the five upazilas of the district during the current season.

Of the total lands, 24,017 hectares were brought under Boro cultivation in Sherpur Sadar upazila, 23,095 hectares in Nalitabari, 12,405 hectares in Nakla, 17,666 hectares in Sreebordi and 14,598 hectares were brought under the cultivation in Jhenaigati upazila of the district.
