A 35-year-old man was killed and 15 others injured after a passenger bus overturned at the entrance of the recently opened Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel in Patenga end of the port city of Chattogram on Friday, said police.
The deceased Abul Hossain was son of Abul Kashem of Konakhali area under Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Kabirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Patenga police station, said the bus, heading towards Anowara end through the tunnel from the city, hit a road divider around 273 meters off the tunnel when the driver lost control, leaving one dead and 15 others injured.
The injured were admitted to several hospitals of the city and traffic movement became normal after the bus was removed, he said.
Confirming the development, he said that the bus was seized and necessary measures would be taken in this regard.
