A man died and several others were injured in an attack by a mob of agitated protesters in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Jatan Kumar Saha, 42, confirmed Anwar, sub-inspector of Begumganj Model police station.
A member of police is among the injured, police said.
The mob marched near College Road and DB Road in Begumganj on Friday afternoon and vandalized the area, according to police.
The mob carried out the attack protesting an incident of a copy of the Holy Quran being found at a mandap at Nanuar Dighi in Cumilla city on October 13.
The next day, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were deployed in 22 districts to maintain the law and order following the incident.
