Ten platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in four Upazilas of Chattagram including Hathazari ahead of the namaj-e-janaza of Hefajat-e Islam amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.
Additional District magistrate of Chattagram Dr Badiul Alam confirmed the news to The Business Post.
He said, “Ten Platoons of BGB has been deployed across Chattagram district so that the namaj-e-janaza of Ahmad Shafi can be performed without any unwanted incidents.”
Among the 10 platoons, four have been placed at Hathazari Upazila.
The namaj-e-janaza of Hefajat-e Islam amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi will be held after Zohr prayers Saturday at Darul Ulum Muinul Islam Madrassah, popularly known as Hathazari Madrasa, in Hathazari of Chattogram.
Later, he will be laid to eternal rest at Maqbara-E-Habibiya graveyard of the madrasa.
Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, breathed his last around 6:30pm while undergoing treatment at Asgar Ali Hospital. He was flown to Dhaka from Chattogram by a helicopter in the afternoon after his condition deteriorated.
