1,050 litres of hoarded soybean oil seized in Ctg

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) seized 1,050 litres of soybean oil from a business establishment in Chattogram city on Sunday.

A team of Chattogram Divisional Office of DNCRP raided Khaja Store at Karnaphuli Market in the afternoon and found the kitchen item stockpiled in a warehouse.

The directorate’s Chattogram Divisional Office Deputy Director Mohammad Foyez Ullah said acting on a tip-off they conducted the drive.

The owner of the Khaja Store was fined Tk 40,000 for creating an artificial crisis in the market by hoarding the edible oil illegally, he added.

The seized edible oil was sold to nearby shops.

In another drive, a mobile court fined a trader Tk 40,000 on Saturday night for illegally hoarding 2,328 litres of soybean oil at South Gizaria village under Bhujpur police station in Chattogram, reports BSS.
