The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has awarded the Director General (DG) Badge of RAB to its 120 members for gallantry and meritorious contribution in professional work.
RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain handed over the badges at a ceremony on Thursday, held at the RAB headquarters in Dhaka’s Kurmitola area.
RAB DG's Special Award (Courage) was awarded to 43 RAB members and RAB DG’s Special Award (Service) was awarded to 77 RAB members in recognition of operational (bravery/heroic) and administrative (service/complimentary) work performed in 2023.
Besides, the DG awarded the battalions which have done well in a total of five categories including militants, arms, drugs, expeditionary operations and vehicle maintenance in recognition of their good work.
In that event, the RAB director general also handed over honours and monetary donations to the families of 33 RAB members who died in the line of duty.
Hossain said RAB is determined to build a society free from terrorism. Reminding about the contribution of RAB in various fields including fighting with militancy and drugs, he requested all of RAB to work together.
He also assured to provide opportunities to all members of RAB. Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 20th anniversary program of RAB Forces on Wednesday.
