At least 13 people, including four councillors, sustained burnt injuries after an explosion at the residence of Mayor Abdus Salam of Mirkadim municipality in Munshiganjon Tuesday evening.
Munshiganj Police Superintendent Abdul Momen confirmed the matter to media saying the incident took place around 8:30pm on Tuesday.
On information, teams of police and fire service rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, he added.
All of the injured in the explosion were immediately taken to Munshiganj General Hospital.
Shoibal Basak, a physician at the hospital, said all the 13 taken to the hospital were injured and 12 of them were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
