140 cops awarded the UN Peacekeeping Medal in Mali

A total of 140 members of Bangladesh Formed Police Unit working in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) have been awarded the United Nations Peacekeeping Medal. 

They received the award at Bamako, capital of Mali, in recognition of outstanding contribution to the UN peacekeeping and high level of professionalism, said a press release issued by Media & Public Relation Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Friday.

In the medal ceremony, Commissioner of Police General Bettina Patricia Bugani praised the professionalism and dedication of the Bangladesh Police, read the release. 

He said the members of Bangladeshi Formed Police Unit-1 (BANFPU-1) have been very active in implementing the mission mandate and these medals have been awarded in recognition of their contribution.

Commander (Superintendent of Police) Belal Uddin presented the medals and said that the professional members of Bangladesh Police have kept the dignity of Bangladesh intact in the international arena by facing various challenges in the ongoing Covid-19 epidemic and fulfilling their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication.

He sincerely thanked everyone for this and expressed his gratitude to the UN authorities for awarding the Peacekeepers Medal to the Bangladesh Police.

The medal was presented at the MINUSMA headquarters on September 21. MINUSMA Police Commissioner-General Bettina Patricia Bugani was the chief guest at the event.

In addition to Chief Operations Sharfadin Margis, military, police and civilian members from various countries were present on the occasion.
