A total of 157 stranded Bangladeshi citizens returned from Maldives on Friday evening.
The General Manager (Public Relations) of US-Bangla Airlines Md Kamrul Islam confirmed the news to The Business Post.
He said, “A chartered Boeing 737-800 aircraft of local carrier US-Bangla airlines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) carrying 157 Bangladeshi nationals from Maldivian capital Male at 6 pm.”
Earlier, Novoair, another local airline, left HSIA for India this noon carrying 16 stranded Indian sailors while the flight landed at Indian northeastern city Guwahati at 1:18 pm local time, according to the airline sources.
This is the first time a direct flight was operated between Dhaka and Guwahati, the capital of Assam.
