Sixteen more Covid patients died in the past 24 hours at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital till Wednesday morning, according to the district's health officials.
"Of the deceased, eight were Covid-19 positive while seven died with Covid-like-symptoms," said Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, director of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).
however, one of the patients died after testing negative for the Covid-19 infection.
Eight of them were from Rajshahi, three from Chapainawabganj, two from Natore, two from Naogaon and the remaining one from Jhinaidah.
With 60 new cases, a total of 410 people are currently undergoing Covid treatment at the hospital.
As per the test ratio of the samples, the infection rate in Rajshahi was 33.04 per cent — the highest in the division.
Besides, the infection rate in the Chapainawabganj district was 25.77 per cent.
So far, 288 people died at RMCH till Wednesday.
