17 fishermen rescued from Bay of Bengal
Members of Bangladesh Navy rescue 17 fishermen from a fishing boat in the Bay of Bengal on Thursday.

Members of Bangladesh Navy have rescued 17 fishermen from a fishing boat that remained stuck in the Bay of Bengal for past six days due to a glitch in its engine.   

Navy’s ship ‘Anusandhan’ spotted the fishing boat ‘Khaja Azmir’ on Thursday afternoon along with the fishermen about 80-kilometre away from the Cox’s Bazar, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The rescued fishermen were- Mobarak Ali, Abu Said, Ismail, Rabiul Hannan, Mosammadullah, Rabiul Hossain, Rezaul Karim, Md Ayes, Nurl Alam, Nurul Ajgar, Md Hannan, Khalek, Adam Badsha, Mobinul Islam, Md Mamun, Md Jakir and Nurul Mostafa.

All of them were residents of Kutubdia upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

They went for fishing on November 5, later, engine of their fishing boat went out of order.

The rescued fishermen were provided with necessary food and water along with primary treatment on urgent basis.
