In recognition of their work in migration reporting, 17 journalists received BRAC Migration Media Award on Thursday.

Minister for Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed handed over the awards in a ceremony at BRAC Centre in Dhaka. Each award winner were awarded a crest, financial grant and a certificate.

“Media's role is very important in building public opinion,” the minister remarked.

Many new overseas labour markets including Malaysia are opening up, he mentioned. In this regard, he asked the journalists to only bring forth authentic news to prevent confusion among the people.

Bureau Of Manpower, Employer & Training (BMET) Director General Md Shahidul Alam NDC was the special guest, while BRAC Executive Director Asif Saleh chaired the ceremony. BRAC Senior Director KAM Morshed delivered the welcoming speech.

BRAC introduced this award in 2015, and this is the sixth time this award was handed out.
