18 including Chinese men killed in countrywide road accidents

At least 18 people, including two Chinese nationals, were killed in road accidents across the country in the last 24 hours.

The accidents took place in Sirajganj, Shayestaganj of Habiganj, Taltoli of Barguna, Rupganj of Narayanganj, Monirampur of Jashore, Satkhira and Joypurhat.

Sirajganj: Two army personnel were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an army pickup on Monday evening in Sirajganj.

Barguna: Three officials, including two Chinese nationals of Isotech Thermal Power Station, were killed when a microbus lost control and fell into a ditch in Taltoli.

The accident took place at Kewabunia area of ​​brickfield on the Amtali-Patuakhali highway early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Liwen Tao, a Chinese Shanghai Electric Power Construction Company safety officer, engineer Lujikolong, and bilingual engineer Fakhrul Hasan, from Gulshan, Dhaka.

The microbus driver was injured in the accident.

According to Amtali police, the victims were working at the Taltoli thermal power plant. On their way to the workplace from Dhaka, their rented microbus lost control and fell into a ditch.

Police later recovered their bodies at night.

Habiganj and Shayestaganj:  Six people, including the driver of a CNG-powered autorickshaw, were killed in a collision with a truck.

Of the deceased, five were workers of Pran RFL Company located at Habiganj Industrial Park.

The accident took place at Nasratpur in Shayestaganj upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 7:30am on Monday.

One injured woman was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in the incident.

Shayestaganj Highway police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mainul Islam said the bodies of six people were recovered and sent to the morgue. Due to the accident, there was traffic congestion on the highway for about two hours.

Police seized the truck and the autorickshaw, however, the truck driver managed to flee away.

Rupganj (Narayanganj): Two passengers along with the driver of a private car were killed in a collision with a truck on Sunday night in front of Bhulata Munshi Pump on the Asian Highway Bypass Road.

The deceased were identified as private car driver Alamgir Hossain, passenger Azad Hossain and Rafiqul Islam. A man named Abdus Sobhan was also injured in the incident.

Monirampur (Jashore): Two motorcyclist brothers were killed when collided with a bus in Monirampur upazila of Jashore.

The deceased were identified as Shahbuddin, 40, and Moinuddin, 36 – sons of Sirajul Islam Khoka of Majhlauri village.

Police seized the bus was but the driver and his assistant escaped.

Satkhira: A bank official named Ajmir Hossain was killed when a bus hit him at Choyghoria Babulia intersection in Satkhira Sadar upazila.

Joypurhat: A motorcyclist was killed when a truck hit him in Bhimpur area of ​​Panchbibi-Hili road on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, son of Mokshedul of Dinajpur Sadar upazila.

On information, police recovered the body from the spot.
