19 more pairs of trains to operate from June 9

Bangladesh Railway will commence operation of nine more pairs of intercity and 10 pairs of mail express and commuter trains from June 9 in compliance with health regulations.

The Traffic Transportation branch of the Directorate General of Bangladesh Railway issued orders in this regard on Sunday.

Sardar Shahadat Ali, additional director general (operations) of Bangladesh Railway, said they were gradually increasing train operation.

28 pairs of intercity trains were currently operating, nine more pairs would be added with these from June 9, he said, adding that 10 more pairs of mail and commuter trains would run with the existing nine pairs in operation.

The intercity trains to begin operation from June 9 are — Sonar Bangla Express on Dhaka-Chattogram route, Agniveena Express on Dhaka-Tarakandi route, Jayantika/Upaban Express on Dhaka-Sylhet route, Paharika/Udayan Express on Chattogram-Sylhet route, Barendra Express on Rajshahi-Chilahati route, Simanto Express on Khulna-Chilahati route, Kurigram Express on Dhaka-Kurigram route, Banglabandha Express on Panchagarh-Rajshahi route and Panchagarh Express on Dhaka-Panchagarh route.

The mail and commuter trains to operate are — Dhaka-Chattogram mail on Dhaka-Chattogram route, Surma mail on Dhaka-Sylhet route, Titas Commuter on Dhaka-Akhaura route, Dewanganj commuter on Dhaka-Dewanganj Bazar route, Mymensingh Express on Chattogram-Bangabandhu Bridge (East) route, Mahua Commuter on Dhaka-Mohanganj route, Rajbari Express on Rajbari-Bhanga route, Biral Commuter on Lalmonirhat-Biral route, Bogura Commuter on Lalmonirhat-Santahar route and College Train on Bonarpara-Santahar route.

All kinds of public transports, including inter-district and long-distance buses, launches and trains resumed operation earlier on May 24 with half the capacities.
