2 cargo LNG procurements under consideration

The government has initiated a fresh move to procure some two cargos of LNG and 1.30 lakh metric tons of fertiliser to meet the growing demand of the country.

In this regard, the Adviser’s Council Committee on Government Procurement will hold its 6th meeting this year at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat tomorrow to consider a good number of purchase proposals.

Adviser to the interim government on the Ministries of Finance and Commerce Dr Salehuddin Ahmed will preside over the meeting, reports BSS.

Cabinet Division officials said following two separate proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the government is likely to procure two cargos of LNG from the spot market among the Master Sale and Purchase Agreement (MSPA) signing companies and firms.

Besides, following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) is likely to procure 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertiliser from SABIC Agri Nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia under the 2nd lot while BCIC would procure another consignment of 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertiliser from KAFCO, Bangladesh under the 4th lot.

Apart from these, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Agriculture is likely to procure 30,000 metric tons of TSP fertiliser from OCP, SA, Morocco under the 6th lot while the BADC would purchase another consignment of 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertiliser from MA’ADEN, Saudi Arabia both under state-level agreement.
