Two students drowned after a boat they were in capsized in Kadam Ali Lake in the capital’s Mudga-Manda area on Tuesday afternoon.
They were identified as Naima Sultana, 18, a student of Siddheswari Girls’ College and Mridul Hasan Rabby, 19, a student of Sabujbagh Govt College, 19; both studied in class XI.
Fire Service Headquarters official Md Rasel Shikder confirmed the matter to the media.
He said, five friends went on a boat trip in the lake around 5:15 pm. At one stage, as the boat capsized in the middle of the lake, Naima and Mridul got drowned while three others managed to swim ashore.
