A woman and her granddaughter were killed in a road accident in Dhaka's Beribadh area on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Salma Begum, 55, and her granddaughter Rinita Moni, 12.
Two other members of the family - Mohammad Salek, 32, and Ria Moni, 14 - were injured in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
Salma's daughter Shiuli said the accident occurred while Salma was on her way to Ashulia from Mohammadpur in an autorickshaw with her two grandchildren and son around 5am. A truck hit the three-wheeler from behind in Beribadh area, leaving the four critically injured.
All of them were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Doctors pronounced Moni dead on arrival and Salma breathed her last
The bodies have been kept at the morgue for autopsy.
