Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has detained two outbound passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport trying to smuggle Saudi Riyals.
The duo on Friday morning was trying to fly to Bahrain with the Riyals worth Tk 1.4 crore, said Ziaul Haque, additional superintendent (Media) of APBn.
The arrestees are Jewel, 38, of Brahmanbaria and Golam Rabbani, 48, of Cumilla.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested said they intended to smuggle the currency to Dubai, said Ziaul Haque.
The two men travel to Dubai every week, added the Ziaul.
