Two suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion in Cox's Bazar on Monday morning.

The deceased could not be identified immediately. However, they were members of a robber gang and had multiple cases against them, said RAB.

The gang was preparing for robbery in the morning. Tipped off, RAB conducted a drive in East Bara Veola union under Chakaria upazila of the district, said RAB-15 CPC Commander Major Sheikh Yusuf Ahmed.

Sensing the presence of RAB members, the robbers opened fire and RAB fired back in self defence.

After the gunfight, RAB nabbed two members of the gang from the scene. Two others sustained bullet injuries and were rushed to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctors declared them dead.

Three local made weapons, six rounds of bullets, and four cartridges were also seized from the scene.

The bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the commander added.
