Two people have been killed in an alleged gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) police in Kuril Bishwa Road area under Khilkhet police station in the capital.
The gunfight took place around 2am on Monday (July 6). Khilkhet police took the two to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with gunshot wounds where doctors declared them dead around 3:30 am.
Confirming the matter to The Business Post, Khilkhet police inspector for investigation Aminul Islam said, the gunfight took place with Gulshan DB police at 300-feet of Khilkhet Kuril Bishwaroad early morning. They were later taken to hospital where they died. Two members of the DB were also injured in the incident.
The detectives also detained two people -- auto-rickshaw driver Shafiqul Islam and Siddique from inside the auto-rickshaw and recovered a foreign made pistol, a magazine, two bullets, two sharp weapons and other goods from the spot.
During interrogation, the two arrestees identified the two deceased as Nannu and Mosharraf. Their age will be approximately 45 and 55 years. The body has been kept at Dhamek morgue for autopsy.
Nannu used to drive yellow cab. He had been languishing in jail for six years for killing a passenger, while Mosharraf was wanted in several cases, including murder. Shafique and Siddique were arrested earlier along with yaba pills and phensidyle, said the DC DB.
They also revealed that they were involved in small trader Harun killing. The body of Harun was found besides Australian International School near the 300 feet road.
