Two lakh more doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine reached Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

An aircraft carrying the jabs landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:10pm, confirmed health ministry spokesperson Maidul Islam.

The vaccine doses reached the country from China through Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, according to the ministry.

Md Feroz Salah Uddin, secretary general of the BDRCS, received the jabs at the airport.

In April, the government approved the Covid-19 vaccine developed by China’s Sinopharm for emergency use.

On Tuesday, Bangladesh added six new coronavirus-related deaths and 276 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am.

With the fresh cases and deaths, the overall caseload now stands at 15,68,257 and the total fatalities at 27,834, said the Directorate General of Health Services.
