Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with stripping and filming a woman while torturing her in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila that triggered widespread protests.
The arrestees are identified as — Mohammad Sohag, 21, and Nur Hossain Russell, 30.
The duo was arrested in a drive carried out in Eklashpur village of Begumganj around 2am Wednesday. Investigation suggests they were involved with the incident of molesting the woman, said Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Alamgir.
A total of eight people have been arrested so far over the incident. The court placed five of them on remand, the SP said in the morning.
The woman was allegedly molested by some local miscreants at ward-9 of Eklashpur Union of the upazila last month but the incident came to light after a video of the incident went viral on the internet.
The miscreants tortured the woman after undressing her and filmed it.
The victim filed two cases accusing nine people on Sunday, 33 days after the incident.
On Oct 5, she filed two separate cases under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act accusing nine people over the incident.
