Two motorcyclists were killed when a bus hit their motorbike on Khulna-Bagerhat Highway in Khajura area of Bagerhat’s Fakirhat upazila on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Mozibar Rahman, 26, son of one Nausher Talukder in Chouddahazari village under Chitalmari upazila and Ruhul Amin, son of one Abul Hasan Sheikh in Dhopakhali village in Kachua upazila.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot.
As aggrieved locals took to the street to protest the accident, Bagerhat Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Chandra Roy and Fakirhat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tanvir Rahman visited the spot and managed to calm the situation.
A helper of the bus was detained but its driver fled the scene.
