Two people were stabbed to death following an argument over a badminton match in Cox’s Bazar on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Kaiser Hamid and Saidul Islam.
Confirming the matter, Cox's Bazar Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Nazmul Huda said that the incident took place at the bus-terminal area of East Larpara around 11pm.
Eyewitness Shamsul Alam Shravan and the deceased relative Khorshed said Kaiser and Saidul got into an altercation with their opponent Atiq while playing badminton. Later, Atiq’s relatives Zainal, Mizan, Mufiz and others attacked them with sharp weapons.
Sayedul and Kaiser were rushed to Sadar Hospital with serious wounds where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital Resident Medical Officer Ashikur Rahman said they both died due to excessive bleeding.
“A drive is underway to nab the culprits,” the OC said.
