2 to die for murder in Khulna

A Khulna tribunal on Thursday sentenced two people to death for killing a school teacher in 2017.

The convicts are-Raju Munshi alias Raju and Tuhin Gazi. Of them, Raju was tried in absentia.

Crime Prevention Tribunal of Khulna Judge Md Saifuzzaman handed down the verdict.

According to the prosecution, Chittaranjan Bain, a teacher of English Department of a college, used to live with his family at a house at Shere-e-Bangla Amtala Road.

On January 6, 2017, Chittaranjan's wife along with her daughters went to her parent's house.

On January 15, 2017, burglars entered the house of Chittaranjan breaking open the grill of the window and looted valuables including ornaments and Tk two lakh from the house.

They also killed Chittaranjan before looting money.

Later, victim's younger brother filed a case in this connection.

On October 12, 2017, police submitted chargesheet against 10 people.

The tribunal also acquitted eight other accused as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
