Two members of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) were shot dead allegedly by miscreants at Machalong Bridge Para in Baghaichari upazila of Rangamati district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Dipayon Chakma, 40, son of Anil Baran and Ashish Chakma, 35, son of Shanti Kumar Chakma.
Abdul Awal, senior assistant superintendent of Rangamati Police (Sajek circle), said being informed by local people, police recovered the bodies of two UPDF men in the morning and sent those to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Those who were involved in the killing will be arrested, said Mir Abu Touhid, superintendent of Rangamati Police.
However, the UPDF blamed the Jansanhati Samity(JSS )led by Santu Larma for the killing while Tridip Chakma, organizing secretary of JSS, termed the allegation baseless.
