21 victims of trafficking returned to Bangladesh from India

Twenty-one Bangladeshi women and children, victims of human trafficking, were brought back to the country through the Benapole land port on Friday.

The victims were repatriated through the combined efforts of Bangladesh Foreign Ministry, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata, and West Bengal Task Force & RRRI (Rescue-Recovery-Safe Return and Integration) of Women & Children, said a press release. 

The victims of trafficking from Bangladesh were held in various safe homes in India. Afterwards, they were issued travel permits and brought back to the country.

In the presence of the director general (Consular and Welfare) and assistant secretary (Welfare) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a team of representatives of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata handed over the 21 victims to the local Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Upazila Women and Children Affairs Officer and police at Benapole.
