State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md. Enamur Rahman said 23,90,307 people have been evacuated and placed in shelters so far to save them from the devastation of cyclone Amphan.
The state minister was speaking at a press briefing at the ministry's meeting room on Wednesday.
The evacuees have been kept in a total of 14,636 shelters in 19 districts of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions.
Additionally, 5,17,432 cattle have also been safely shifted to the shelters, he said.
The state minister further said the total capacity of the shelters is 57,13,607 but due to the coronavirus situation, about 24 lakh people have been brought to shelters maintaining social distancing.
An adequate supply of dry food, baby food, cow feed, masks, sanitizers and other necessary items have been provided to the shelters.
