A total of 2,500 small and marginal farmers in sadar upazila of the district were given high quality jute seeds free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of jute in the current Kharif season.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akhtar Chowdhury addressed the seed distribution function as the chief guest and handed over the incentives among the farmers on the upazila parishad premises, with Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Noor-E-Nabi in the chair, reports BSS.
Upazila Social Service Officer Abdul Hai Siddiqui, Sadar Upazila Additional Agriculture Officer Muhammad Junaid Habib and Agriculture Officer of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Mir Rakibul Islam, among others, were present.
Each of the farmers was given one kg of high quality jute seeds free of cost, DAE office sources said.
