28 more deaths, 2,772 new coronavirus cases in Bangladesh

28 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Friday, taking the death toll to 3,111.

Besides, 2,772 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 237,661 confirmed cases in total.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Friday afternoon.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,170 samples were collected and 12,614 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,176,809 samples have been tested in the country. 

With 2,176 new recoveries, a total of 135,136 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.

The deceased, of whom 22 were males and six females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 21-30 years, three between 31-40, two between 41-50, seven between 51-60 years, ten between 61-70 and four were between 71-80 years of age.

Under division-wise categorisation, 13 hailed from the Dhaka division, eight from Chattogram, two from Khulna, three from Rajshahi and one each from Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

All 28 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 672,062 as of Friday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 17,241,298 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 5,859,873 infected patients, 5,793,501 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 66,372 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.

So far, 10,089,350 people have recovered.
