After four days, activities resumed at nearly 29 police stations across Dhaka on Friday morning with the assistance of the army – following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina regime and the unrest that followed.

Army personnel are supporting police officers in carrying out their duties. During a press conference at Tejgaon police station on Friday morning, members of the army and police relayed this information.

Addressing the conference, Army's 25 East Bengal Regiment Company Captain Major Sakhawat Hossain said, “On that day [August 5] many people had gathered, and controlling the mob became difficult.

“This is how miscreants killed many people, including police personnel. It was critical to save the police. Police stations are an important institution. They serve the people, so we need to give them a chance at reform.”
