3 more Fareast Islami Life Insurance directors resign

Three more directors have resigned from the restructured Board of Directors of Fareast Islami Life Insurance. Citing personal reasons, they submitted their resignation letters to the company’s board on Monday.

The three are Dr Lafi fa Jamal, Provost of Shamsunnahar Hall and faculty member of Dhaka University’s Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering; Dr Md Rafi qul Islam, Professor of Dhaka University’s Department of Banking and Insurance; and Arif Khan, FCMA. Previously, on August 14, Sheikh Kabir Hossain resigned from the position of chairman of the Board of Directors of Fareast Islami Life.

He also cited health and personal reasons in his resignation letter, which he submitted to the company’s board and the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. Subsequently, on August 19, another independent director of the company, Mozammel Babu, who was also the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of Ekattor Television, submitted his resignation letter to the company’s board citing health reasons.

On September 1, 2021, BSEC removed the Board of Directors of Fareast Islami Life and appointed 10 new independent directors. This decision was made by BSEC to protect the interests of investors, policyholders and the overall capital market. Later, on February 11, 2022, BSEC restructured the company’s Board of Directors.
