Bangladesh recorded 30 deaths in the 24 hours till 8:00am on Thursday, according to a release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.

With the new deaths, the virus fatalities rose to 12,724 in the country.

Besides, 1,687 people tested positive for the virus during the same period pushing the caseloads to 8,05,980.

The rate of positivity now stands at 9.94 per cent for the last 24 hours while the mortality rate is 1.58 per cent.

The toll of recoveries rose to 7,46,035 with 1,970 patients got cured of the disease in the 24 hours taking the overall recovery rate at 92.56 per cent, said the directorate.

Bangladesh is currently under a nationwide lockdown which is scheduled to continue till June 6 to tackle a second wave of the virus pandemic.
