328 killed in road accidents during Eid

Road accidents claimed 328 lives and left 565 injured during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in April, according to data from the Bangladesh Passengers’ Welfare Association.

The figures were disclosed at a press briefing organised by the association in the capital’s Bangladesh Council for Child Welfare Auditorium on Tuesday.

Md Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, secretary general of the association, said 355 people were killed and 620 injured in 341 road, railway, and waterway accidents during Eid journeys. Of those, 304 road accidents left 328 people dead and 565 others injured, he added.

Besides, 27 railway accidents claimed 22 lives and left 55 injured. On waterways, 10 accidents killed five people, while 22 passengers went missing.
