35 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Wednesday, taking the death toll to 3,035.

Besides, 3,009 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 232,194 confirmed cases in total.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Wednesday afternoon.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 14,253 samples were collected and 14,127 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,151,258 samples have been tested in the country. 

With 2,878 new recoveries, a total of 130,292 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.

The deceased, of whom 30 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 21-30 years, one between 31-40 years, six between 41-50, seven between 51-60 years, 12 between 61-70, seven between 71-80 and one was between 81-90 years of age.

29 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas six died at home.

Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 659,045 as of Wednesday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 16,667,130 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 5,773,658 infected patients, 5,707,171 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 66,487 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.

So far, 9,703,211 people have recovered.
