Bangladesh on Monday recorded 36 deaths in the 24 hours till 8:00am according to the routine press release by the Directorate General of Health Services.

The latest death toll has taken the total fatalities to 12,619.

Besides, 1,710 people tested positive for the virus during the same period pushing the caseloads to 8,00,540.

The toll of recoveries rose to 7,40,372 with 1,567 patients got cured of the disease in the 24 hours taking the rate of recoveries at 92.48 per cent, said the directorate.

The rate of positivity now stands at 9.41 per cent for the last 24 hours, while the mortality rate 1.58 per cent.

The ongoing lockdown has been extended to June 6 to tackle the second wave of the pandemic in Bangladesh.
