37 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Saturday, taking the death toll to 1,425. Besides, 3,240 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 108,775 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Saturday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,779 samples were collected and 14,031 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 596,579 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,048 new recoveries, a total of 43,993 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 459,437 as of Saturday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University data.
So far, 8,639,023 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 3,669,782 infected patients, 3,614,989 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 54,793 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 4,625,449 people have recovered.
