37 more die as Bangladesh sees 1,608 new Covid cases

Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 37 Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours till 8:00am, according to a release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.

Besides, 1,608 people tested positive for the virus during the same period pushing the caseloads to 7,83,737.

With the latest data, the number of recoveries rises to 726,132 with 1,923 patients recovering from the disease in the past 24 hours, said the release.

The rate of positivity now stands at 13.62 per cent while the mortality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.

Bangladesh is currently under a nationwide lockdown which is scheduled to continue till May 23 to curb the risks of a second wave of the virus pandemic.
