Bangladesh registered 38 Covid-19 deaths in the 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday bringing its tally to 12,549, according to a release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.

The number of caseloads rose to 7,97,386 after 1,043 people tested positive for the virus during the same period with the positivity rate at 7.91 per cent.

The toll of recoveries rose to 7,37,408 with 1,187 patients got cured of the disease in the 24 hours taking the overall recovery rate at 92.48 per cent, said the directorate.

Bangladesh is currently observing a nationwide lockdown which is scheduled to continue until May 30 to curb the risks of a second wave of the virus pandemic.
